Mac OS X v10.6.4 Update!

Apple has released Mac OS X v10.6.4 Update on 15Jun2010. As for other update, depending on your current Mac OS X version, you can download the Combo Update or the Update for 10.6.3 machine. If wanted, you can also perform the update via the software update in your Mac.

Installing the v10.6.4 update

I have installed it on my VM and so far I am happy with that. To recap, my VM is setup as according to my guide, with fakesmc.kext removed (read this for more info) and is boot up via VB's EFI.

FYI, during the final stage of installing the update (I am doing this via the software update), my guest crashed. During the next reset, the installation seems to continue from where it had failed and it reboots automatically for one more time.

Sound becomes choppy after the update. Well, I am surprised to see that happens! This is because I do expect the update to reinstall the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. It appears to me that AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext will eat up CPU cycles. To fix the issue, simply remove the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and rebuild the kext caches. As a reference, you can refer to this article for how to remove a kext file.

After rebooting my VM, everything goes fine.... (but still, sounds are coming out only from the right channel).
